Mon quatorze juillet avec Lipault et Ladurée

As many of you know, la Fête Nationale de 2016 was a very difficult one for many with the tragedy in Nice. I’m not from France, but did live there for some time while studying abroad. Upon setting foot in Angers, I knew we had been connected at some point in a past life. The smell of boulangeries on my walk to school, the chitter chatter of varying dialects of a foreign tongue, and the innate chicness of everyone who passed by was like being transplanted to an ethereal universe you never wanted to leave. And till this day whenever I see, hear, or smell anything that takes me back to one of the happiest times in my life, my emotions shoot through the roof causing an instant high.

On this Bastille Day, I brunched at the Frenchiest place in Soho, Ladurée, with one of the Frenchiest luggage brands, Lipault. Noshing on an excessive amount of carbs and attempting to counterbalance it with grapefruit juice and water, I realized I knew very little about Lipault except its French heritage and its collection filled with pretty hues (which is actually super important to me. Like I don’t want to travel with blasé gear! If I’m going to drag it off a conveyer belt that’s moving uncharacteristically fast, with other passengers staring in embarrassment, the luggage better be noteworthy!). But upon further research I discovered that since its launch in 2005, designer François Lipovetsky set out to create aesthetically pleasing travel pieces that were sturdy, durable, and yet lightweight.

For example, much of the Lipault collection is comprised of vinyl that is laminated in rayon net. Vinyl being non-porous than further laminating it in rayon net ensures protection from liquids (or other substances that can seep through pores) from entering and damaging our contents, or exiting and ruining another’s, as well as making it easy to clean.

The spinner wheel gives a 360-degree movement, so you won’t be that person with a suitcase stuck between the train platform and the train door [again] because your contraption only moves in one direction. Plus the retractable handle locks in place, or can be zippered in dependent on your item style.

Lipault offers travel accessories outside of luggage including totes, toiletry cases, and backpacks, which are all available online, in their flagship stores in France, and other distribution retailers such as Galeries Lafayette and Selfridges.
