Lady Gaga, her manager Troy Carter, and infamous photographer, Terry Richardson, have teamed up to launch “Pop Water”. A carbonated beverage intended to be healthier than most sugary alternatives. Troy Carter said, “We noticed none of the brands had music in their DNA. We felt we could build something with relevance to music and pop culture if we built something from scratch”.

He goes on further to say, “We see what’s happening in New York where people want to get healthier, looking for alternatives. When we saw what was happening with Subway and how they completely disrupted McDonald’s… it’s a bigger movement than what we expected.”

Hmm… there’s no real way to sugar coat this, but a sugary beverage, no matter how healthy, will be a sugary beverage. I mean, honestly, it doesn’t seem very original that an artist decides to delve into an obscure realm that one would think they know nothing about. Then again, this wouldn’t be the first time.

Lady Gaga will be featured in future ad campaigns with Richardson as Creative Director. Pop Water, first launching in California, has 30 calories and 7 grams of sugar and will available in several flavors including apple, orange, pineapple and grape.
