WEEK 4 @ FLEX STUDIOS | A NEW MUSCLE HAS BEEN BORN…

It’s not easy bidding adieu to things you love, but sometimes you just have to.

Last week was my fourth and final week of FLEX Studios and to really get a feel for it, I went to classes at the Union Square location. I know. Leaving the comfort of the NoHo I love, and explore a new place? Totally not my style, but let me just say Mother’s Day was memorable for all the wrong reasons.

That Sunday, I took a class taught by Kelsey. When I met her I thought, “Aww, she seems sweet. This will be super easy.” Well, that sentiment could be further from the truth. This Pilates class had me discovering muscles I never knew existed. I mean, I haven’t even seen them on that anatomical diagram they use for science showing all the areas muscles are located. Kelsey created new muscles… I swear she did! Even at the end of class when she asked how it was I explained it felt more intense than usual. She gave a little laugh and said, “Yeah… I made it harder than I typically do.”

What?! Girl… you have to give a heads up beforehand. You can’t just switch it up willy-nilly.image014

And remember, these were my emotions for all 55 minutes of the class with an additional 15 minutes post-workout, when I struggled to put on my clothes. Soon after I was back to my old self until Monday morning came around. Remember that muscle I was educating you on earlier? THAT muscle was sore for nearly a week after. It was located on my butt, but I couldn’t pin point where exactly. It was like my gluteus maximus had split into two creating a twin like some sort of scientific phenomena.

But all of these memories will forever be just a moment in time as I say farewell. It’s been real,FLEX Studios. You will be sorely missed (pun intended!). Truly, I can’t think of any other place that had me dripping sweat minutes in and adding pep to my step minutes after.

For those of you who are too afraid to try it out, just try ONE class. Don’t try and be some fitness guru and do it every day for a week. Just. Try. One. I promise, you’ll be coming back again, and again, and again…
