WEEK 4 @ BFX STUDIO: MYZONE

Hey, hey, hey! Sorry, I didn’t post last week but there were a few difficulties. Which, by the way, are totally fine now. Anyway, this week we’re talking about MYZONE. MYZONE is this nifty chest strap system that provides heart rate and caloric tracking in real time. Like you can be doing plié dips (this may not be what the move is referred to as) with Amanda in Barre and be watching your heart rate go from 67% to 73% right before your eyes. Plus after your workout, when you remove the device, it sends a transcript showing your MEPs, average heart rate, calories burned and average effort. My belt is registered to BFX, so I can do workouts outside of the BFX arena, but no information will be sent back to me until I return to the studio.

Do I like it? I do. I wish my heart rate were in the red or black more often, but I can work on that. I also don’t like the fact that I named my belt “Tillie” because everyone in class will know it’s me. Other than that, it’s cool. It tracks your efforts based off your status, which inherently pressures you to push yourself more than the last time. It’s like competing with yourself, but not. You know?

You want one for yourself? Well, I can’t help you with that UNLESS you’re going to BFX. They are for sale in the studio and the staff are available to answer any questions you may have. It’s small enough to carry in your purse, gym bag, or whatever else you tote around. There’s a watch component for those who will wear it, plus the belt is so slim and compact it will never be seen under your gym clothes. It’s basically the perfect workout accessory!

Until next time…
