JAMIE GREENBERG HELPS COMBAT WEDDING ALLERGY FACE

Al-ler-gy face /ˈalərjē fās / n: a face’s visible state to an allergic reaction. Most common during spring and summer when nature is in full bloom, but is not limited to nature caused breakouts.

“This year, Zyrtec teamed up with GILT and Celebrity Makeup Artist, Jamie Greenberg, to create a kit complete with beauty products and insider tips to combat Allergy Face available for a limited time.”

Along with these three forces joining together to combat Allergy Face, Jamie has given us the 411 on brides-to-be (and mums) on how to radiate all day. Even when pollen tends to leave you puffy faced and flushed.

What can you tell women who are getting married, but fear Allergy Face on their big day?
Okay so a big thing with Allergy Face and weddings is you definitely want to get your makeup done in advance. You want to try to do a lot in that makeup. I like to say, “Do it in the morning”, because then you can live in that makeup all day to make sure you’re not having anything from the products, make your Allergy Face worse.

So what sort of products, or looks should allergy prone brides go for?
If you have a day that you’re getting married outside in the beautiful flowers … There’s always a lot of flowers on wedding days. You want to make sure that allergy face is tried and true. Then when you get on the day of, I really recommend combating any of the issues that you have. If you’re dealing with the puffiness, go for the contour, go for the bronzer. I love using creams that day because a cream contour will look a little bit more natural than a powder contour, especially in pictures because it’s a little more moist. It looks like your real skin. Also, have a professional that knows what they are doing. Watery eyes is a big thing but you obviously want to wear makeup on your eyes that day. Everything waterproof! Waterproof isn’t something I stand by to wear everyday all the time but when it comes to allergy face and looking your best. Definitely waterproof eyeliner. There’s waterproof eye shadows now. There’s waterproof mascara. Some people have sensitive lashes so you can always do a coat of regular mascara and then seal it in with a waterproof mascara. You’re kind of like putting the regular one on the eye and then sealing it in with the waterproof. If you have watery eyes, you don’t want any of your makeup to move and you’re going to cry.

Sometimes it might be that bold lip kind of day. If you’re just having a really bad allergy face, go for a special bold lip. I love like a corally color in the spring or a fuchsia or even a red – if you’re that daring. Definitely try everything out before, and I do recommend in the morning, so you can live through that look all day and make sure everything feels good, looks good, and you’re ready for your day.

What about pregnant women because they are already gaining weight and they already feel like they’re puffy without the allergy…
It is the same thing with pregnant women. I’ve been pregnant twice and a lot of the same things apply. The other thing is when you’re pregnant, you’re tired. You’re not going to sit down and really beat your face like you normally would. Then once you have kids, forget it. You have 5 minutes every morning to pee, shower, do your hair and makeup, like everything in one; eat, get their lunches ready … Ah it’s crazy. I like quick products. Finger products. Things that are super-fast and easy, that you know how to do. Again, maybe a cream eye shadow and then a lip that doubles as a cheek color. You’re doing everything fast. There’s a brush that I like to use from Tarte that’s really big. When I don’t have time in the morning, I want to put my full face of foundation on but I don’t really have the time to do how I would with a brush and really work it into my face. I am a makeup artist and maybe I am being dramatic but taking that big brush, squirting a little foundation and then just buffing it off, takes like 10 seconds and you get even coverage. Which I think is a big problem; having that demarcation line.

Any advice to mums?
Being pregnant and being a mom, you’re just getting ready for the lack of time but you have to remember to make time for yourself. You always have to make time for yourself even when you have children.
