GIANFRANCO FERRE S/S 2013 RUNWAY REPORT

Ferre-AccAs we walk around the headquarters of Gianfranco Ferre on Milan’s Via Pontaccio — where its runway shows are staged – we can’t help but feel nostalgic, as this will be the last show within these walls by Ferre’s team. We’ve been coming to Milan for the past 7 years and Ferre’s shows are always one of our favorites whilst here and this Spring/Summer 2013 is no different; drawing their inspiration from Guy Bourdin’s provocative photography, Gianfranco Ferre’s designers Federico Piaggi and Stefano Citron honed in on architectural draping and cuts with several floor-length silhouettes. Optical White and Black with a bit of Python were the only colors and print used while very minimal accessories highlight the waistline with a simple gold belt. The finale featured a barrage of colors in pinks, blues, reds, and more but according to the team this meant the black and white include all the colors, all or nothing at all.

Themes – Guy Bourdin’s provocative photography – featuring minimalism and the female form

Colors – Optical White, Black, Gold, and finale included Pink, Red, and Blue

Key Items – Graphic bandeau top in python; one-shoulder jumpsuit; leather-sleeve jacket

Prints/Patterns – Python

Fabrics – Silk, python, chiffon, leather

Accessories – Gold leaf belts, metallic sandals with heels, hard boxy clutches

Swag – Gianfranco Ferre Spring/Summer 2013 is great for going out to parties, or nights on the town with the girlfriends. We see ourselves rushing after a cab at 2am in NYC heading home from an exciting night of drinks and merriment with friends. Hoping to see a few of these pieces on favorite leggy celebrities but, are sure to see the likes of Miley Cyrus and Vanessa Hudgens trying to assert their sex appeal in any one of these mini dresses.
