Today we’re getting smarter than we’ve been before with littleBits. littleBits Electronics, the company whose aim is to “put the power of electronics into the hands of everyone.” I’m not exactly sure what that means as science is not my forte, but their littleBits Smart Home Kitseems like something I could nerd out to.
Launched last month, the littleBits Smart Home Kit allows you to turn any home into a smarthome. By providing you with all the essentials of creating prototypes, building, and inventing, you can produce new budding ideas or rethink old ones all from the comfort of your home. And there’s no need for heavy, dangerous machinery. Just everyday simple adhesives and material you already have lying around. Many have manufactured smart versions of their coffee machine, refrigerators, light installations, speakers, etc. Now imagine the endless creations you can now conjure up without going out and buying the latest and greatest on the market, that’s soon to be replaced within a couple of months of being on the market.

littleBits is now available at select RadioShack stores nationwide retailing for $249. The Smart Home Kit comes with 14 Bits, including the cloudBit: MP3 player, Threshold, Number, Temperature Sensor, and IR transmitter. Also included is an infographic poster with 14 projects ideas and 11 accessories like a brand new AC switch, which connects the littleBits 5V system to AC power (110V).
